Tamworth Rod Runners

Around 38 cars attended our 8th Annual Rod Run this year on the first weekend of March 2006. It was another successful run with all rodders having a great time.

Friday afternoon / night rodders & friends met at the Longyard Hotel for early arrival drinks & a sausage sizzle. With the Golden Guitar Motel and complex right next door to the Longyard, it’s a perfect venue for a country style, laid back get together.

Saturday morning, the Roadrunners Rod & Custom Club Inc. held a Charity Show’n’Shine at Bicentennial Park, which was open to the public from 9.30am to 11.30am. On display were Hot Rods, Drag Cars, Custom & Classic Cars from all over NSW.
Collection buckets were taken around and the money raised will be donated to aid the Intensive Care Unit at the Tamworth Base Hospital. This will be the fifth year we will be donating to the Intensive Care Unit & our club has already donated almost $2500 over these years.

The afternoon consisted of a novelty drive around Tamworth and then a trip back in time with lunch at the 50’s & 60’s styled Parthenon Milk Bar. Saturday night we enjoyed a great meal & presentation at the Longyard.

Sunday morning, after a pancake breakfast, was a trip to our local fibreglass factory & major rod run sponsor - Stockman Fabrications. We were able to see all the different stages of the production of a fibreglass hot rod body & chassis.
